After the viral interview with Elmo and Cookie Monster visit in Asia, Rico Hizon, an award-winning broadcast journalist, received a Facebook message from Lana Magno-Levine, VP for Finance of Sesame Workshop, inviting him to visit Sesame Workshop in its headquarters in New York.
It was an ecstatic feeling, as how Rico Hizon would describe it, to meet his childhood heroes. When asked about the value of Sesame Street to today's kids, he believes that Sesame Street is still relevant despite the influence of digital age. He said that "education trumps entertainment" and that "on Sesame Street, children are engaged as partners in learning- they are engaged in topics and discussions about things that matter to them."
On its 50th year, Sesame Street continues its magic and relevance to today's world.
